About Heather

I am an Edinburgh-based artist, and have worked with the versatile medium of felt for over 20 years. I create wall art and free-standing sculptural pieces, and enjoy the endless possibilities that felt offers. Over that time, I have participated in and taught workshops, exhibited in galleries and juried exhibitions, and volunteered on the committee of the International Feltmakers Association (IFA).

I’m proud to be part of a supportive community of accomplished feltmakers through my involvement with the IFA. I am currently Vice-Chair and, as a member of the Education Team, I co-host and edit the podcast Felt Matters. There is little knowledge about felting and limited visibility for feltmakers beyond our own circles and so, through the podcast, I hope to spark conversations about feltmaking with those who appreciate art and heritage crafts.

Over the last year I have designed and delivered the Community felting workshop ‘Felt Well to Feel Well’ at the Arts and Heritage Centre, Craigmillar Now. The class is full of first-time feltmakers who now share my passion for the medium and are creating beautiful 2 and 3-D objects themselves.

I am a member of Visual Arts Scotland.
